B is for Burlesque

I've been a big fan of burlesque for a long time. In fact, a few years ago I took a burlesque workshop and it was such an amazing experience. I shared the day in fishnet stockings and elbow length gloves with a group of women ranging from a few 20 somethings to a 70 year old grandmother. It was absolutely liberating. There was something so powerful in seeing how our group transformed from timid ladies to free spirits in a matter of hours. I'm also obsessed with old photos from the 20s and 30s of provocative women who seemingly broke the rules of proper behavior.

A while back I had the good fortune to stumble upon two silver corsets which immediately made me think about burlesque and of women who are bold enough to embrace their feminine power. For this necklace,  I found a great piece of chain mail while I was in New York City a few weeks ago. It makes a strong statement and pairs perfectly with the corset. I find that I incorporate keys and religious medallions in lots of my neck pieces as I've been searching for years for ways to unlock various aspects of myself.
